Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 31, 2026

1. Our Commitment

Kouple is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.

We believe every couple deserves access to Kouple, regardless of ability. Accessibility is not an add-on - it's built into our design principles from the start.

2. Conformance Status

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA for our website, and Apple's and Google's accessibility guidelines for our mobile apps.

Our current conformance status: Partially Conformant - some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standards. We are actively working to address all known issues.

3. Technical Specifications

Our website and mobile app are built with the following accessibility technologies in mind:

  • HTML5 semantic markup with proper ARIA roles and labels
  • Screen reader compatibility (VoiceOver on iOS, TalkBack on Android)
  • Keyboard navigation support on web
  • High contrast color ratios meeting WCAG AA standards (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
  • Scalable text that responds to user font size preferences
  • Alternative text for all meaningful images
  • Captions and transcripts for video content
  • Focus indicators visible for all interactive elements

4. Known Limitations

We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to address them:

  • Some older user-uploaded images may lack alternative text (users are encouraged to add captions to all memories)
  • Some animations may not fully respect the "reduce motion" preference on all platforms - we are addressing this
  • Complex SVG illustrations in the Love Park may not be fully accessible to screen readers - static alternative descriptions are provided

We welcome reports of any other accessibility issues.

5. Mobile App Accessibility

iOS: The Kouple iOS app supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Display Accommodations (including Reduce Motion, Increase Contrast), and Switch Control. We target iOS Accessibility Guidelines and use native UI components where possible.

Android: The Kouple Android app supports TalkBack, Font Size scaling, and Display Size adjustments. We follow Android accessibility best practices and use Material Design accessibility guidelines.

6. Feedback and Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Kouple. If you experience accessibility barriers:

  • Email: contact@getkouple.com
  • Contact form - select "Accessibility" as the subject

We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 3 business days, and to provide a remedy within 10 business days.

7. Formal Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the relevant accessibility authority in your jurisdiction. For users in the European Union, this includes national accessibility enforcement bodies under the EU Web Accessibility Directive.
